After Insemination
So you have gone through your insemination, now what? In the insemination world, the two-week wait begins; we refer to it as the TWW.
What is the two-week wait (TWW)?
A 2-week wait refers to the period between ovulation and your next menstrual cycle. During this time, an embryo implants into the uterus lining (Implantation). It can take this long for the body to produce enough HCG (pregnancy hormone) to indicate a pregnancy.
Some may experience a positive pregnancy test during the TWW because transplantation can occur any time between 6 and 12 days after ovulation (DPO). The temptation to do pregnancy tests before the end of the TWW is high. However, the disadvantage is that the results will likely be negative.
If you can’t wait any longer and would like to take a pregnancy test, please wait until 7 days DPO. Don’t feel defeated if the test doesn’t come back positive. It is not over until Aunt Flow (your period) comes.
How to take a pregnancy test?
Get some midstream urine in a container and insert the test strip for 5 seconds to take a pregnancy test. The test strip has a control line and a test line like the ovulation tests. Place the strip down and wait 3-5 Minutes. Even the faintest line indicates you are pregnant, as the HCG hormone is produced only when pregnant. Unlike the LH hormone, which is always present in our bodies.
To make sure your pregnancy progresses within the TWW, you want to see your positive line getting darker. Don’t waste tests by testing multiple times a day, as your HCG hormone will only show a change within 36 hours.
Positive pregnancy test? Now what?
Congratulations on your positive! Now that you have received your positive, you need to wait until your missed period, then call your Dr to let them know. They will get you to do a blood test to ensure you have good HCG levels and that the pregnancy looks viable. The next step is to locate your midwife search online for one you feel comfortable with.
Also, we highly recommend using the Fertil F Phase 1 Supplement.
